I have made my home in the San Juan Mountains of Ouray, Colorado since 1999 where I write poetry, direct poetry events and write a monthly feature column for the Ouray Plaindealer about life in a small mountain town. Prior to that I taught writing classes at California State University, Los Angeles for over 20 years. Where I live, deer and elk roam, the mountains beckon, and a river whispers from across the fields. Memories of people, the arts, and nature inspire me: I can't really choose between them. I hope my poems and articles show the wonderful complexity and interrelationships of these aspects of human life. I can be reached via email at: bpaulson@ouraynet.com.
My poems have been published or are forthcoming in a number of small magazines: The Climbing Art, Idaho Connections, Clark Street Review, Trestle Creek Review, Herb Network, Buffalo Bones, Mountain Gazette, Hard Row to Hoe, Sunstone, The Kerf, Welcome Home, Writing on the Edge, Tapestries, Mad Blood, Blueline, Shemom, Blind Man's Rainbow, Voicings from the High Country, Advocate, Sweet Annie and Sweet Pea Review, Red Owl, Tributaries, Aethlon, Ruah, Innisfree, The Oak, HeartLodge, Slow Trains, ByLine, Pegasus, Terrain, damselfly, Lyric, and Aurorean.
